About Us

At The Hope School Learning Center, all students have an Individualized Education Plan, which includes goals such as self-help skills and daily living activities. A strong emphasis is placed on the development of communication skills. In addition to using pictures and sign languages, language activities include the use of specially designed Augmentative / Alternative Communication equipment, Adapted Computer Access or other assistive technology equipment.

Through Hope’s vocational program, youth gain the tools and skills necessary to reach their maximum potential as they prepare for adult living.  Job coaches work one-on-one with students at on-campus jobs or in off-campus community work sites. The program seeks to ensure the development of social, community interaction and safety skills, as well as other areas deemed necessary to enable the youth to be functional members of society. Hope’s partnerships with a variety of businesses provide true employment as well as vocational skills development opportunities.

Started in 2004, the Lakeshore School Program for children with severe emotional disturbances is a partnership between Hope and the Springfield Public Schools.  The Lakeshore School Program provides intensive services for Springfield elementary school students whose disturbances preclude their success in a less restrictive setting.
